A Real Guy

GUY PENROD - "A REAL GUY" I first met Guy at a little church in Alexandria, IN in the mid 90's.  The Gaither Vocal  Band was trying out a new tenor singer. A friend of mine worked for Bill & Gloria at their bookstore in town and had asked me if I would like to come to a invitation only concert.  My family was in town for the Anderson Campmeeting that week so we decided to take him up on his offer.  That evening we made our way to a little Nazarene Church in Alexandria where the Vocal Band had set up and were ready to perform.  I noticed some familiar faces in the crowd that evening, Gloria Gaither, Danny Gaither, with friends and family. Bill, Guy, and Mark were there with the tenor singer they were auditioning. The church was full to capacity, maybe one hundred people at the most.  I was excited to be so close to some of my childhood music heroes.  I will never forget that night.  I sat and listened to them perform some of their most famous songs.  What impressed me the most was Guy.  The group was in the midst of an audition, but Guy was in the midst of worship.  I can still see his hands raised in worship to every song that was sung.  I was impressed to see such a passion for Christ radiate from his life.  After the concert I went up to meet the guys and take pictures.  I'll never forget the down-to-earth spirit that Guy Penrod had and still exhibits.  After leaving the Vocal Band last year, he has embarked on a solo career.  His new project is making raves among his fans and listeners.  Pick up his new project titled "Breathe Deep" you will not be dissapointed
